Four Seasons carries 11 solids and 9 stripes in the
Outdura Collection and we are
continuously growing the program. For more information on Outdura,
please read below.
Why is Outdura™better than
other fabrics?
Outdura™ is 100% solution-dyed acrylic. In the
Solution-Dyed Process, the pigment is added during the fiber production.
These fibers are spun into a yarn resulting in permeated color throughout
the fabric (like a carrot). In conventional dyeing process, the pigment
is applied after the fabric is made. Color is not an integral part
of the fabric, making the fabric more prone to fading (like a radish).
Is Outdura™ fabric waterproof?
Outdura™ is not waterproof; it is water-repellent. During the
finishing process, a water-repellent finish is applied to the fabric.
Normal wear and usage, as well as cleaning of the fabric, will reduce
the effectiveness of this finish. If water-repellency becomes a factor
after repeated normal use and cleaning, a specialty product may be
used to retreat your Outdura™ fabric. Water-repellency treatments
are available for purchase at local awning and marine shops.
Do Outdura™ fabrics provide UV protection?
Yes. Depending on color, Outdura™ fabrics have been tested and
proven to provide up to 98% UV protection from the harmful effects
of the sun. Due to depth of color, darker fabrics may afford more
protection than lighter fabrics. This protection is built into the
fabric, and will not lessen with usage and/or exposure of the fabric
to sun.
Will Outdura™ fabric mildew?
If kept clean, Outdura™ fabrics will not mildew. Based on the
characteristics of acrylic fiber, the weave will not support the growth
of mildew, whereas a natural fiber will. However, mildew can and will
grow on any surface that is dirty, so we recommend keeping your Outdura™
fabric clean.
How often should Outdura™ fabric be
cleaned?
Outdura™ fabric should be cleaned regularly to prevent excessive
dirt from accumulating.
To Spot Clean: Simply brush off any loose dirt. Use a solution of lukewarm water (not exceeding 100 degrees F) and a mild natural soap such as Lux™ or Ivory™. Rinse thoroughly to remove excess soap and air dry. DO NOT USE DETERGENTS.
For removable covers: Zip all cushion covers. Machine wash in cold water with a mild soap (Lux™ or Ivory™) or bleach on Gentle Cycle, then AIR DRY. DO NOT USE DETERGENTS OR PUT IN DRYER.
